Zen Shiatsu Regular Courses

1. Course description

The course of the Zen Shiatsu Therapist formation we propose is based on a accurated and rich vision of the traditional technique, accompanied by the study and the understanding of the concepts of oriental philosophy and Chinese Traditional Medicine in which they are sustained. 

Together with these basic elements, the student will learn the needed techniques to maintain a suitable physical, mental and energetic balance, so he can help, in simple and effective way to those who consult him to feel more healthful and to obtain a better life quality.

This course does not require previous experience and is addressed to any interested person, because we believe sincerely that Zen Shiatsu can be a very valuable tool for all people interested in helping themselves and those around them.

Both, begginners or those who already are professionals in other health, aesthetic or corporal disciplines can find in its study and practice a different perspective about the traditional concepts of health and disease. They can also learn ways of understanding and self exploring that teach to observe, to perceive and to help without judging, and can also find in it a complement to enrich their present activity or daily life.

The formation that is acquired through the personal study, practice and experiences throughout the course, will be slowly transforming the student, improving his physical state and offering him tools to face and to surpass personal or emotional problems, helping him to connect with the others and, with his own body and sensitivity.

In brief, this course is for those who wish to explore a form corporal work and a philosophy that surely, will have influence in each person beyond the time invested in its study, to extend and influence positively in many facets of their lives.  

The course lasts total of two years. Each class will be of weekly frequency and will last of three hours. It will be provided, without additional cost, the needed written study material for each module and complementary bibliography will be indicated to them to deepen in the subjects that may require it.  

The first stage is divided in an introductory module of basic technique and an advanced complementary module that includes the work on meridians. Throughout these two modules the theoretical and practical foundations of Zen Shiatsu will be covered, enabling the students to achieve the knowledge required to make a basic session at the end of it.

During the second and third stage courses, the paths and techniques that will allow the work on extentions to the traditional chinese meridians, developed by MasterShizuto Masunaga, will be studied. These extensions are an essential part of the holistic vision of Zen Shiatsu.

These advanced modules will provide the knowledge of theory, philosophy and techniques that will enable the students to evolve and finally become professional Therapists after finishing them.

In every class we will work giving and receiving Zen Shiatsu, comparing and sharing experiences with the other students and with the teacher as well. Each class will start with some kind of  self treatment  or energy perception work, accomplished through series of routines of Do-In, Tai-Chi, Yoga and Makko Ho exercise among other techniques.

Additionally the students will have the possibility of attending complementary classes of intensive practice without additional cost, which are organized during every month according to the existing availability of schedules.

The amount of students needed to be able to dictate the course, will be of 6 people and the maximum will be of 14 people. We try to work with reduced groups to be able to make an  individual, correct and customized support  for each one of the students.


2. Certifications and Diplomas

Those students who have attended the totality of the modules with an suitable attendance and that have completed satisfactory the goals proposed for each one, will be able to obtain Diploma that credits them like Zen Shiatsu Therapists.

For it, they will be requisite to render a theoretical-practical examination and to present an analitical work that has to include an amount of sessions or treatments made by own account with different patients. The specifications of the content of this work will be given by the teacher one in each course.


3. Course Program - Zen Shiatsu

Here we offer the detailed content of the three theoretical and practical modules that conform the complete Zen Shiatsu Therapist formation given by our school.  

The different subjects of this program and the format in which courses are dictated respect the guidelines followed by the main associations and schools of Zen Shiatsu in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Program - Basic Level

In this stage the student is led to develop a basic Shiatsu session working on the energy channels known as the twelve Chinese Medicine Classic and Zen Shiatsu Extended Meridians. Includes learning their pathways through the body and the specific treatment routines for each one.

  • Zen Shiatsu introduction: description and foundations.
  • Theory: Basic diagnosis foundations.
  • Lung and Large Intestine Meridians.
  • Stomach and Spleen Maridians.
  • Bladder and Kidney Meridians.
  • Heart and Small Intestine Meridians.
  • Pericardium and Triple Heater Meridians.
  • Gall Bladder and Liver Meridians.
  • Gobernor Vessel and Conception Vessel Meridians.
  • Theory: Ki, Yin-Yang and Kyo-Jitsu basic concepts.
  • Theory: Traditional Oriental Medicine and Philosophy foundations.
  • Self treatment: Do In, Qi Gong and Yoga exercises.

Program - Advanced Level

In this stage the Zen Shiatsu advanced diagnosis methods and working techniques will be covered,  besides aditional hara or abdominal working techniques. Students will be taken deeper into the understanding of the Five Transformations Theory, its meaning and uses as a diagnostic tool, an into Zen Shiatsu treatment philosophy. Also other harmonizing techiniques will be taught and foundations and useful ideas for working as a professional therapist will be given.

  • Side and Seated position techniques
  • Ampuku and Hara working techniques. 
  • Advanced techniques with elbows, arms, knees and feet.
  • Zen Shiatsu advanced techniques: Ho and Sha.
  • Bo and Yu points: Uses and localization.
  • Theory: The Oriental traditional diagnosis methods.
  • Theory: Five Transformations Theory
  • Theory: Back and Hara diagnostic zones.
  • Moxibustion: Foundations, uses and techniques
  • Foundations for a professional therapist working.
  • Study and presentation of cases in the class.
  • Self treatment: Do In, Qi Gong, Yoga and Makko Ho exercises.

1. Course description

The Nuad Boran Traditional Thai Massage regular course are one of our proposals for those interested in learning this ancient bodywork technique.

The course has a duration of 120 hours with weekly classes of 3 hours each one that are dictated between March and December each year.

The agenda and the contents of the course are alike the ones of the program of intensive seminaries, but the order of development of the teorethical concepts and of practices are adapted to the format of weekly classes.

No previous experience is required to attend the course and its objective is to form the participants so that they learn to work in a professional way with each patient in the four different positions that this technique of treatment offers: face up, face down, side and seated. 

In every class students will work giving and receiving Nuad Boran, interchanging, comparing and sharing experiences with their companions and the teacher. In addition they will work in their own preparation, treatment and energy sensing  through routines of Do-In, Tai-Chi, Yoga and Makko Ho exercises among other techniques.

Also, throughout the course, they will learn the therapeutic theoretical bases on which the physical work of the Nuad Boran is sustained, studying the pathways and uses of the ten lines sen main, along with guidelines of Eastern traditional diagnosis, corporal reading and interpretation of symptoms. 

Additionally the students will have the possibility of attending complementary classes of intensive practice without additional cost, which are organized during every month according to the existing availability of schedules.

Zen Shiatsu Intensive Seminaries

1. Course description

The intensive seminaries of Zen Shiatsu that we propose are an alternative that can allow the interested students to complete the formation of Therapist of Zen Shiatsu. 

These encounter are weekend classes of nine hours of duration each one, along Saturday, Sunday or both days, developed for people with or without previous experience in corporal techniques. 

These seminaries are ideal for those residents away from Buenos Aires that cannot travel to participate in the regular classes that our Center dictates or for those with a lack time avaliability to attend the classes in the weekly classes format.

The amount of students needed to be able to dictate the seminaries will be of 6 people and the maximum will be of 14 people. We try to work with reduced groups to be able to make an  individual, correct and customized support  for each one of the students.

Here we detail the content of the Zen Shiatsu Therapist basic module intensive seminaries program  offered in our school.

The contained subjects of this program and the format in which the courses are dictated respects the guidelines followed by the main associations and schools of Zen Shiatsu of the United States, Canada and Europe.

The Nuad BoranTraditional Thai Massage seminaries that we propose conform our Nuad Boran Therapist career in the intensive format. 

The contents of this course are recognized and approved by the Thai Healing Alliance International standards.

Zen Shiatsu Introduction Courses

1. Course description

This basic introduction course is thought  for those interested in starting to learn Zen Shiatsu during the summer time and continuing their formation along the regular courses that are scheduled for the mids of March. 

The objective of this course is to serve as a first approach to the foundational Zen Shiatsu techniques and the learnt topics will enable the students to develop a basic session with relatives or friends. 

The content of these courses is similar to the one of the basic weekend Zen Shiatsu seminaries,  that is the other option for initial formation proposed by our school. 

The amount of students needed to be able to dictate the course, will be of 6 people and the maximum will be of 14 people. We try to work with reduced groups to be able to make an  individual, correct and customized support  for each one of the students.
